Cartography, Geographic Information Systems and Data Analysis (C-SIGAD)

Available only  as a continuing education program, C-SIGAD is taught at the CERMOSEM campus in the department of Ardèche. Combining spatial, cartographic and statistical approaches, this program enables students to specialize in :
- reading, understanding and creating cartographic documents
- producing spatial analyses and conducting multisectoral statistical analyses
- developing a geographic information system (GIS)

The C-SIGAD program helps students acquire theoretical knowledge on :
- the different projection systems
- geo-data
- the main actors at the local, national, European and international levels in the field of GIS and geographical data, as well as the main canonical texts of the discipline
- the semiology, typology and graphic design of a maps
- concepts and notions of the vocabulary used in cartography and statistics
- statistical analysis methods and their expected results, as well as their interpretation
- Geographic Information Systems and their uses

The course also teaches the following technical skills and competencies :
- data collection
- data analysis
- data interpretation
- creating thematic maps
- creating, developing and using a Geographic Information System
- using these different toolsto support decision-making processes.

C-SIGAD uses free Open Source and Open Data software and data tools in its classes
