Presentation

The Institute of Urban Planning and Alpine Geography (IUGA) was created through the merger of the Institut de Géographie Alpine (IGA) and the Institut d’Urbanisme of Grenoble (IUG) on September 1, 2017.

It is one of the 23 departments, schools, and institutes (training and research units) of the Université Grenoble Alpes, which is the result of the January 1, 2016 merger of the Joseph Fourier, Pierre Mendès-France, and Stendhal universities.

Based in the Cité des Territoires at 14-14 bis Avenue Marie Reynoard, IUGA is located in the Vigny-Musset district south of Grenoble, right next to the Villeneuve district and close to the École Nationale Supérieure de l’Architecture de Grenoble (ENSAG).

Lastly, IUGA operates Cermosem, a satellite campus in the town of Pradel in the French department of Ardèche, which is also affiliated with the PACTE laboratory.
