Cermosem is a training and research center of the University of Grenoble Alpes (UGA), attached to the Institute of Urban Planning and Alpine Geography and the PACTE research laboratory. It opened its doors in 1994 as part of a partnership between the Ardèche Departmental Council, the EPLEFPA of Aubenas (Ministry of Agriculture), the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region, the rectorate of the Grenoble Academy and the university. Cermosem develops activities in strong adequacy with the characteristics and demands of the South Rhône-Alpes territories.

The campu's activities are organized around three main functions: training, research and scientific initiatives.

The Cermosem welcomes students in training at Bac-3 (Professional Licenses in Tourism, Heritage, Environment and Territorial Development), Bac 5 (Masters in Tourism, Territorial Engineering, Transition) and Bac 8 (Geography, Planning, , geographic information system, from 112 hours). Depending on the diploma, the courses are available in initial, continuing or apprenticeship training. They all benefit from a privileged working environment, varied quality teachings, largely linked to research projects and a network of actors rich in partnerships and collaborations.  

Many events, seminars and seminars are organized on the site, making it a living place conducive to debates and cross-exchanges to which the entire university community present is widely associated.
